1. What are cookies and what do we use them for?

Cookies are small files or devices of general use that are installed in the user’s browser in order to store, retrieve or update data. They allow the person responsible for a website to know the preferences of users when browsing its website and to personalise the services offered on the basis of these preferences.

Web beacons are other similar technologies that are also installed in the user’s browser for different purposes. They are small graphic images (also called “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs”) that may be embedded in websites, services, applications, messages and tools. We only use our own web beacons to track traffic.

2. ¿What categories of cookies do we use?

We use first-party and third-party cookies that allow us to perform usage analysis and measurement to ensure that our Website is working properly and to improve our services.

Specifically, we use the following cookies depending on their purpose:

  • Strictly necessary (technical) cookies: These are the cookies necessary for the correct functioning of the Website. They are exempt from the scope of article 22.2 of the LSSI, so the user cannot decide whether to accept them or not: they will always come by default. They are the following:
  • Session/user login cookies: these are typically used to track user actions when filling in online forms on various pages, or as a shopping basket to keep track of the items the user has selected by clicking a button.
  • User security cookies: for example, cookies used to detect repeated, erroneous attempts to log on to a website.
  • Media player session cookies.
  • Session cookies for load balancing.
  • User interface customisation cookies.
  • Certain plug-in cookies to exchange social content: the exception only applies to users who have chosen to keep the session open.
  • Preference or personalisation cookies: These allow us to remember the preferences that the user has determined while browsing the Website, for example, the language selected, the region where the user is located in order to offer them content in accordance with that location, or their type of browser. They are also used to determine the size of the text, the font or other aspects of the Website that can be personalised.
  • Analytical cookies: These cookies collect data on user browsing. They make it possible to carry out monitoring and analysis of the actions made by users on the Website. This monitoring of users does not have any implication on them, but RPET FLAKE uses it in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the data on the use that users make of the service we offer.
  • Marketing cookies: These cookies store information on the behaviour of our users, and are obtained through continuous information on their browsing habits, which ultimately allows us to develop a specific profile and show them advertising according to their preferences detected from this observation.

3. How to manage cookies?

When the user accesses the Website for the first time, a pop-up tab with the cookies banner will appear. In this banner, you are given a first layer of information by virtue of which we warn you that cookies are used on our Website, along with a link to this Cookie Policy. You will have three options in that banner: o “Accept all cookies”, “Accept only necessary cookies” and “Set cookies”. If you select this third option, you will be redirected to a second banner with more exhaustive information on the cookies we use, and with a panel so that the user, one by one, can select which cookies they wish to accept or not. This cookie configuration is in line with the provisions of the Spanish Data Protection Agency in its “Guide on the use of cookies”, issued in July 2020.

On the other hand, if the user wishes to delete cookies and web beacons that are already set on their terminal, they can do so from their browser. You can find out how to do this by going to the help menu of your browser where the steps to proceed with their elimination are established.
